Meet the team
Matthew J. Hummel, AIA - Principal
Matthew J. Hummel founded XC Studio with Jed in 2003. He graduated from the Hotel School at Cornell University. Starting out in hospitality and restaurants, he has over 30 years of experience in the industry. He is not only a licensed architect in various states but also a member of FCSI (Foodservice Consultants Society International.) Matthew’s experience from operational consulting through design allows him to help drive solutions for clients that are up to date in design trends but more importantly help drive business. Matthew now resides in Boise, starting the 3rd XC Studio office in 2020.

Jed Santarone - Principal
As a founding principal of XC Studio, Jed leads a talented team of design and construction professionals offering a rare blend of creativity and operational understanding. Prior to forming XC Design, Jed served as a Senior Project Manager with Sodexho for over 10 years. He has over 30 years’ experience in the design, construction, and remodel of foodservice facilities. During his career, Jed has successfully managed the three major disciplines of the construction industry: Design, Construction and Owners Representative. A Florida native, Jed and his wife now make their home in the Washington, DC Metro area.
With over 24 years of experience in the architecture and construction industry, Jeffrey is a highly motivated and registered architect in over 13 states or districts. He has spent the past 12 years at XC Studio managing new construction and renovation projects in the hospitality sector, including restaurants, education, healthcare, and sports and entertainment venues, from early schematic design through completion. Prior to joining XC Studio, Jeffrey worked as a project manager and staff architect working on academic, corporate, government, residential, healthcare, laboratory and clinical care, and historic preservation.
Joe is a registered architect and has been in the architecture and food service industry for over 13 years. His experience ranges from the schematic design phase to construction administration. Since graduating from Philadelphia University (now Jefferson University) in 2009, Joe has had a passion for digital visualization and turning concept design into reality. In his spare time, he enjoys being outdoors, traveling and visiting national parks.
Amy Raup - Interior Designer
Amy is a Pennsylvania based interior designer with projects running up and down the East coast and several throughout the United States. In working with XC Design, Amy has become well versed in Food Service Design in the K-12, University Dining, Concessions and Healthcare sectors. Amy received her BFA degree from Marywood University and resides in Danville, PA with her husband and 3 kids.
Michael Bomberowich - Project Manager
Mike has been an integral part of the XC Studio team for 6 years. He received his B.Arch from Temple University and has been in the design industry for 25 years. He started out designing schools K through 12. Prior to joining XC Studio Mike also ran his own woodworking shop out of his home creating furniture, tool chests, kitchen supplies, and more. His favorite part about working at XC Studio is seeing people enjoying and using the end product once it is built.
Laura Alonso - Project Designer
Laura has been an integral part of the team for the past 3 years. As a project designer her passion lies in transforming a dated space and giving it new life. She and her family reside in Philadelphia where she relocated after a 12-year stint in Argentina, where her parents and extended family are from. There, she and her husband studied and worked as registered architects. She has 8 years of experience in the architecture and construction industries. Through her travels and living abroad, she brings with her a different perspective.
Evan Felps - Project Manager
Before joining XC Studio in the fall of 2022 Evan worked as Director of hd5 and led the team’s design capabilities forward with every project from conception to completion. Evan is a recognized leader, with more than 30 years of experience developing strategic environments and solving involved design challenges. As a NCIDQ certified licensed interior designer, Evan’s profound experience enriches a strong design approach that fits all types of budgets and client’s needs.
Erin Murphy - Marketing Manager
Erin joined the XC Studio team in the fall of 2022 and couldn’t be more excited to get the ball rolling. As Marketing Manager she designs the website, runs the socials, sends out proposals, and enjoys hopping on projects on an as-needed basis. Erin comes from a strong architectural background; she studied architecture at Cal Poly SLO and worked at a design-build firm mainly focusing on warehouse and food production facility design before she joined XC Studio. When Erin isn’t working on creative passion projects such as digital illustrations, card, and sticker design, you can find her exploring the great outdoors via hiking, biking, or skiing.
Bradley Norman - Designer
Bradley's enthusiasm and extensive background in structural design and virtual design construction (VDC) harmonize perfectly with his recent position as Project Designer at XC Studio. With his expertise in computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) and an Applied Science Degree in Drafting and Design acquired from ITT Technical Institute, Bradley possesses a solid bedrock for his professional endeavors.
Beyond his professional life, Bradley finds solace and rejuvenation in outdoor explorations, engaging in activities such as fishing and camping. Yet, his ultimate source of happiness stems from meaningful moments shared with his trio of children, coupled with his involvement in coaching youth sports.
Chelsea Tyler - Interior Designer
Being one of the newest additions to the XC Studio team, Chelsea brings a background in residential design, along with years of experience in the hospitality industry. After graduating from ASU with a degree in Design, Chelsea has been able to pursue her passion for 3D modeling in Revit - it's like playing an adult version of the Sims! Chelsea has always been passionate about creating spaces that are both functional and esthetically pleasing. Chelsea's favorite design style is bohemian; she appreciates its individual freedom, mixing of styles and colors, as well as its focus on comfort.
When she's not working, you can find Chelsea rock climbing, wine tasting (She's a Certified Sommelier!), hitting the beach, and cuddling with her two pups, Templeton and Millie.
Danny Battle - Associate Architect
Coming at construction from all angles with backgrounds in carpentry, project management, and his true passion for design has given him a well rounded experience that has led him to years in the field of architectural design. Receiving a degree from the School of Architecture and Allied Arts at the University of Oregon has helped grow his problem solving abilities to create more functional and eye catching spaces.
After growing up in Colorado, his love for sports and the outdoors hasn't changed, and keeps him busy in San Diego going camping, off-roading, playing ice hockey, and competing in Spartan Race's nationwide.
